Intel, Olidata Digital World Foundation and presented in Rome the project "A school with JumPC"At a press conference presided over by companies with the Honorable Renato Brunetta. The initiative was attended by five schools in the Lazio, Piedmont and Sicily, which will be considered as a beta tester of the introduction of new technologies of IT in teaching and training of new generations for a beneficial use of technology.
Since the beginning of the school year, primary schools and Fratelli Cervi Massaia Cardinal of Rome, Don Milani di Rivoli (Turin), Palermo and Giotto di Giovanni Pascoli Novi Ligure (Alessandria), had joined this initiative, involving 150 students and 15 teachers in total and the insertion of the dispensing netbook JumPC, for children aged 6 to 12 years.
The technical characteristics of this JumPC Olidata are a result of the second generation Intel Classmate PC. The processor Intel Celeron M 353 to 900 MHz, 512 MB RAM and Hard Disk Solid (SSD) 2 Gb are the basis of this product. The screen is 7 inches and has a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It has two Connectivity including a 10/100 Gigabit Ethernet and a wireless 802.11b / g. There are also 2 USB ports, a Webcam 1.3 MPx and 2 in 1 card reader.
The possibility of transport was high and reflected mainly in weight of only 1.5 kg and size of 242 x 256 x 42 mm. The product is not exactly new, given the official presentation of the May 20, 2008, the netbook has been launched at € 299.00 with the same target for the current use: children from 6 years.
