Man died in South Korea after cell phone battery explode
A colleague found him bleeding from the nose and with the cell phone Dell GD761 battery melted in his shirt pocket. The explosion caused several broken ribs and spine.
A 33 year old man was found dead Wednesday, apparently by the explosion of the battery of phone, the first such case occurred in South Korea, police told Yonhap agency (English). The man, whom police identified only by name, Sur, was found dead by his co-workers at a quarry in North Chungcheong Province, where he worked as a laborer.
He was bleeding from the nose and had a phone with the battery in his pocket melted. A colleague said that when he approached a hill to put a load of dynamite found the man lying next to a bulldozer.
"He was bleeding from the nose and had a mobile with melted Dell GK479 battery in his left pocket of his shirt," said co-worker of the victim. The professor of Chungbuk National University, Kim Hoon, said after examining the body that death was caused by the explosion of mobile phone battery.
According to the professor, "was injured in the left chest area and the explosion broke several ribs and spine." Furthermore, the heart and lungs were punctured.
This death is the first case of death by an exploding mobile phone battery in South Korea, but last June, Chinese media picked up a similar incident happened in China.
