Kingston's new SSD replaces your hard drive and can boot Windows 7 up to 8.5 times faster than a traditional hard drive, as measured by the manufacturer itself has done.
SSD is the Solid State Drive, and is an alternative for traditional hard drives, which use flash memory instead of magnetic disks. The profit lies in the rapidity and the SSD is dead silent and shock resistant because it has no moving parts.
Kingston has launched a new series of SSD drives called SSDNow V +. These supports technology windows 7 trims, and comes in capacities from 64 GB to 512 GB. The target prices is just over 2 000 SEK to 15 SEK 100 for the largest solution.
Boot time was measured with the analysis tool PCMark Vantage 1.0.1 for Windows 7. The test was conducted by Kingston itself, and the result was that SSDNow V + started all over 8.5 times faster than an ordinary hard drive at 7200 RPM.
SSDNow V + is in the format 2.5-inch, which makes it fit nicely to install in most laptops.
