Samsung Galaxy Tab: Apple iPad competitor in mini-format
The Samsung Galaxy Tab - a tablet PC with a seven-inch screen and an integrated UMTS phone - was one of the stars of the IFA. COMPUTER ART has tested the iPad competitors.
Seven-inch touch screen, one-gigahertz processor
The Galaxy Tab Samsung has a 17.8 inch touch screen with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels. Photos and movies look brilliant and the screen works well even from extreme angles. The Galaxy Tab runs on Android 2.2. The Cortex-A8 processor has a clock speed of one gigahertz and thus not even in high-definition movies at up to 720p problems. The 380 grams, the device displays Flash content and has a function for reading e-books.
"Media Hub" and "Music Hub: modeled iTunes
Simultaneously with the Galaxy tab offers the Samsung "Media Hub", an online store for movies and videos, and the "Music Hub", which gives you access to a large music offering.
Camera with LED flash
Connect to the Internet and networks takes the Galaxy Tab by WLAN-n or via the UMTS mobile phone network via HSDPA / HSUPA. GPS and Bluetooth for wireless data communications on board. With a built-in microphone and two integrated cameras, conventional and video calls possible. The front camera has a resolution of 1.3 megapixels, the camera on the back of 3.2 megapixels. To succeed so photos in the dark, the Galaxy tab has a built LED flash light. Also videos films the camera. There are 16 gigabytes of data storage available, you can expand via microSD card (up to 32 gigabytes).
Full access to the Android Market
Facilities include a media player with HD video playback (720p) and Google Maps for mobile navigation. In addition to the Samsung pre-installed programs, more than 100,000 in the so-called Android Market apps are available for download (October 2010). A smart move by Samsung, for without phone function denied Google Tablet PCs to access the Android Market.
